Nowadays, these arts and skills are losing their grip. To raise the public awareness of the traditional craftsmanship, Memorigin, the Hong Kong tourbillon watch brand, collaborates with the famous investor, Uncle Luk, to launch a tourbillon watch series that rediscovers the losing crafts.
Mr. Chan Wing Luk, known as Uncle Luk, has been working in the stock market as a stock commentator for years. He is famous for his precise prediction of the stock trend. Surprisingly, he loves Chinese culture and is also a collector for bull-related things. In 2015, he partnered with Memorigin to design a tourbillon watch series that uses bull as the theme. It has helped to raise funds for the Lifeline Express. In 2017, Uncle Luk integrates bulls and the paper-cutting art and adds them into the tourbillon design. In the past, bulls played a significant role in agricultural activities. It symbolizes diligence. Uncle Luk hopes to encourage people to work hard, similar to gain from investment. Memorigin selects a tourbillon movement with 80 hours of power reserve and rotation in a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. There is an arrow on the power reserve indicator at 9 o’clock position, reminding people to pay more efforts. The day and night indicator at 3 o’clock position carves the calligraphy signature of Uncle Luk. The bull silhouette carving on the dial at 12 o’clock position refers to the bull market. Such integration of Chinese paper-cutting art and western watch craftsmanship adds more color to the tourbillon design. It is a masterpiece to represent the cultural diversity.

The ‘Lifeline Express’ eye hospital train started its journey from Hong Kong to mainland China on 1st July 1997. It aims to provide free surgical operations to cataract patients in poor regions.
